Yesterday’s lunch cooking done, a huge party for a dear friend’s birthday, with the salad and slow-roasted spiced lamb (from @ottolenghi @sami_tamimi’s marvellous book Jerusalem) chosen and prepared by friend Simon, hubby David @whitehouseofwhitehouse doing a marvellous job organising and getting us shipshape (and crafting a little carrot and chickpea salad, and garlicky yoghurt, tahina and herb sauce for the lamb, jugs of fresh orange and sparkling water drinks, all the shopping and planning, a mountain of clearing up, he’s the champion), @aly_webb for shaping fatayer and frying falafel (and loads of other stuff), and even some sunshine after days of grim rain ️and a big thanks to Jacqui Pickles and her crack hot serving duo.
