Out in Tooting, thirteen of us in a tiny bedroom-like room above the kitchens at Peshwari-Pakistani restaurant Namak Mandi with @newmiyamoto, @jonathannunn, ex-chowhound legend JFores, @edcumming, @singburi_e11, @catalyst_roasters’s @gikastheo & @isminig1019, @prowlergram …hubby @whitehouseofwhitehouse, and now I’m feeling terrible leaving names out but once we were cross-legged around the wall sat on cushions with a roasted rice stuffed lamb/hogget beastie in the middle the other side of the room was another world, like Tooting is to Wembley.

Lamb was delicious but the rice inside it even more so. Fantastic rice, will think about it for days. @newmiyamoto had ordered the lamb we ate tonight last week, it’d been roasting slowly all day so it was utterly tender. And the cauldron of boiling lamb fat that the #chaplikebab were pushed into by the very handsome cook’s bare hand, the same hand that shaped and pounded the minced spiced lamb and tomato kebab mixture raw and fresh (yes I felt I was watching something erotic here). Naan were crisp and hot and fantastic.
