Hotel in Tokyo: this time I was staying in a smallish 3* hotel in@a great location. Now firstly, 2* and 3* hotels in Japan are perfectly fine, always clean, polite, snug and comfortable. So you don’t have to go mega-plush to have comfort. Also: about the location…you’re right in the middle of Shibuya and next to the area with t tv bd crazy late night drinking alleys and all that. Now I wasn’t so sure about all that (though curiously I really like Shinjuku, same but different). But then Robbie @tokyofoodfile said to me “but you’re walking in the wrong direction, head the opposite way.” Great advice (and yes, generally great advice in life to: if you’re not happy head in the opposite direction). And then I started to get it and really liked the location.

Now the hotel Unizo is about ¥12,000 (say £85) a night with breakfast, and the rooms are a good size for a budget Tokyo hotel. Good restaurants are about a 10 minute walk away, though I did like @kinkasushibarizakaya which is about 10 seconds walk from the hotel.

And…discovered tonight that the food hall at @shibusei_seibu_shibuya marks-down the readymeals after 5pm, often to 50% off, and supermarket readymeals in Japan are fantastic and a good price. So a 10-piece sushi place, good quality if a bit normal, was reduced from ¥780 to ¥390 (say £2.80), amazing ????

In 10 minutes walk you have Shibuya train station which gets you most places quickly. Plus the bus station.
