Found these antique, well 1930s, Japanese cotton sacks used to filter fermented soy beans during the traditional soy sauce making process, here #sashikostitching #刺し子 mended with cotton thread decades ago. Well washed already, no trace of fermentation on it…the texture is as soft as silk from all the use it’s had. Did waver on whether or not to get it so I called @higuchi_takanori_kent who said “yes, buy it” so that convinced me. Bought at @douguyamarukaku for ¥1000 and plan to make an bakers apron from it, was telling @madebyzoi about my sewing endeavours. A few buckles and a bit of hand sewing will have it ship shape. Will post a photo when it’s finished. Wearing recycled fermentation sacks while making sourdough feels right.
