Comfort food reading: thank you Jenny Linford @jlinford for asking about my comfort foods in @sundaytimesfood yesterday. Back at the start of the COVID lockdown Jenny tweeted the hashtag #7favouritecomfortfoods and asked people what their go-to reassuring foods were. If you search for it on Google (put my name and ‘comfort food’ in the search box) you can read it. Lovely article, with quotes from @nigellalawson @thaneeprince @roopagul @cookinboots @jeremychanikoyi and @julianbaggini. It is behind a paywall but I was able to log in and read it so there must be a way of viewing a few pages for free.

Bread is truly at the top of my list because of the reputation (in part true) that it has of zapping your energy short term while your body slows down digesting it. And when I need comfort it usually a sign that I need to rest my head. So today after yesterday’s intense but great sourdough workshop at @cookeryschoollondon I got out a couple of @artisanbryan’s sourdough cinnamon raisin bagels from the freezer, microwaved then split and toasted them, then ate them hot buttered with peanut butter (double butter). So this will be the last post before I have a carb-fuelled snooze.
