Guardian online videos: Stout knots and Carrot Cake

On the Guardian website, as part of our baking weekend, we've put up a video and recipe here:

for these excellent (if I do say so myself) stout and oatmeal rolls. Stout, for those of you outside the UK, is a very dark malty beer and one of the best known brands is Guinness. But there are many different types and for this recipe I used this one from the Titanic Brewery



They rise very quickly, have a great malty taste and colour quickly in the oven. Perfect for a cheese and pickle sandwich!

Also, there is a step-by-step video of a somewhat refashioned carrot cake with pistachios, tahini, pomegranate syrup and orange zest. Very, very good, IMHO.

Right, I'm off to buy some stout (or Altbier?) Shall make some smaller dinner knots. They do look yummy.

Small dinner knots would be really good, but the dough rises quite swiftly so you might want to start shaping them a bit earlier as there will be more to make.
